Hi, my name is Skye, and this is my rescue kitten, Mama Chicken — my little shadow and emotional support through everything.

After nearly two years of shelters and couch surfing, I’m back in a shelter again, trying to rebuild my life from the ground up. I’ve been working full-time as a paraprofessional and doing hair on the side, doing everything I can to stay consistent and stable — but it’s been hard to get ahead while living in unsafe, temporary environments.

Before this shelter, I was staying somewhere that was supposed to be safe — until a break-in left me terrified and without a secure place to stay. The police were called, but there wasn’t much protection afterward. It was a wake-up call that I can’t keep surviving crisis to crisis. I just want stability — a real home for me and Mama Chicken.

I’m asking for $3,500 to help cover:

• First month’s rent and security deposit

• Moving and transportation expenses

• Food, litter, and vet needs for Mama Chicken
