Asher's Vet Bills

Donation protected
As many of you know, Asher has been sick the last few days. Sick enough that the vet who has been treating him wants him hospitalized. If any of you have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a pet emergency, you know they aren't cheap. Some places won't even treat your pet without you paying them up front. With Kenzie and Devin having an upcoming wedding that they're paying for, I'm asking on their behalf for any help that anyone can offer to get their sweet snickers boy the medical care he needs.

Initially, it started as him seeming a little extra sleepy, and wanting to spend more quality time in Kenzie and Devin's space. Then after a day or so, we noticed that he was starting to get lethargic, was slow to eat, and wouldn't even bark at anything out the window (which, if you know Asher, is a big red flag). Kenzie found that he was running a fever and opted to take him into an urgent care on the evening of the 26th.

They drew labs and found that Asher had 'suspected' severe pancreatitis and sepsis, however they were unable to 100% confirm a pancreatitis diagnosis without an abdominal ultrasound, but sepsis was confirmed with a blood smear. The vet recommended that Asher be hospitalized, but the emergency vet here in Fort Wayne, NIVES, didn't have any space available. They looked into getting him admitted to a facility in Fishers, and the quote that was given was upwards of 8k.

Obviously unable to do that, they prescribed Asher with some antibiotics and pain medications, and gave him some fluids, and he was taken home.

On the 27th, he was taken back in to the urgent care for some more labs to see if there was any improvement, but there was no change. He was given more fluids and had an ultrasound done, and confirmed the pancreatitis diagnosis. NIVES is still full, so he was brought home again and will have at-home fluid boluses done over the next couple of days. But his nose was a little wet, and he growled at the neighbors dog, so that's a step in the right direction, we think?

Asher still has a number of vet appointments coming up as they want to keep a close eye on his labs and make sure that there is no decline or sudden changes. He sees a primary care vet tomorrow, and we're hoping to see some improvement by Friday.

Please send all the thoughts and good vibes their way. We all appreciate the love and support, and thank you for anything you can contribute, even if it's just some kind words ♡
