In mid-February, Ashley Willis received a diagnosis that changed everything—but the story really began last summer. She went to the ER with COVID symptoms, and during that visit, doctors unexpectedly found a mass. What started as a routine check turned into months of uncertainty, testing, and waiting.

They are still awaiting final pathology to determine exactly what type of cancer it is, though doctors strongly suspect renal cell carcinoma. There is hope that it has not spread, but they won’t know for certain until all testing is complete. This Tuesday, March 31, 2026, she will undergo another biopsy to evaluate a nodule on her thyroid, adding to the uncertainty they are navigating.

Because of her condition, she has been unable to work since the end of February. Her ever-supportive husband, Ron, is a stay-at-home dad and a disabled veteran, and together they are doing their best to hold their family steady during this difficult time.

On April 3rd, she will undergo a radical nephrectomy to remove the left kidney. She will be hospitalized, and then face another waiting period of weeks to receive pathology results. Those results will determine whether she will need additional treatments such as chemotherapy and/or radiation.

As you might be able to imagine, this journey has been overwhelming—physically, emotionally, and financially for Ashley and her family. Between lost income, medical expenses, and the unknowns ahead, we are asking for help to get her family through this chapter.
