A Desperate Plea For Help

My name is Haini Guo and I have been sleeping rough on the streets of China between the age of 17 and 21. I suffered from mental and physical abuse from strangers during my 4 years of street life and I luckily managed to get off the streets by finding a job.

Homelessness is awful. My life was in danger every day and I was lucky to survive, but those years of street life were the most dark time of my life and it has caused me very bad depression, anxiety and other health issues.

I decided to come to London to change my life because I am poorly educated and I have no family back home that can look after me.

My mother is disabled and my father passed away from cancer when I was 5 years old. I am a young girl all alone in this world.

I suffer from hearing problems and find it difficult making friends because of it, so I am isolated, very vulnerable and scared.

I worked in a restaurant in London to make money to pay for rent and food, but now the virus has caused me to lose my job and I have no income or savings at all.

Now I am scared to end up back on the streets again as I know it will kill me. I am not strong enough.

I have been racially abused by people because of my ethnic origin and the virus, even though it is not my fault and I am also suffering. Now I am scared to go out in public.

I approached the Chinese government for assistance but they said they do not look after anyone over the age of 18. I also do not qualify for help from the UK government, so I am in a very unfortunate position where no one can help me.

This is my final plea and I hope you can find it in your heart to help me change my life. I believe everyone deserves a break in life and I certainly deserve mine.
