On October 3rd my husband Ken ended up in the emergency room for pain on his right side. They had him in right away. Within the hour he had a CT scan done. Blood work came back and his white bloodcell count was up but nothing alarming, the CT results came back and showed he had bleeding on the right side of his colon. They started antibiotics right away and admitted him to the hospital. He was going to have laproscopic exploritory surgery and remove his appendix the next day. A few hours later the surgeon came out and said it was colon cancer. I was in complete shock as was the doctor. They removed the right side of his colon, appendix and part of his small intestine. A few days later the pathology report came back and it was stage 2 colon cancer.
Recovery from this surgery will take several months and Ken is the main provider for our family. We have applied for state disability but it doesn't cover all of our lost wages and we will have medical bills and deductibles to be paid even though we have insurance. We are not a family who usually asks for help but we do not need the added finacial stress and would like to concentrate on Kens recovery. We still have several doctor appointments and tests to be done but optimistic that he will have a full recovery. I know times can be tough for everyone but if you are able to donate even a small amount like $5, $10, $20 we will forever be grateful as every little bit helps. Thank you for support
