By now, we have all braved the task of a COVID-19 grocery store run, restaurant order pick up, or toilet paper mission. Through these uncomfortable endeavors, we have all gotten a small glimpse into the lives of the hardworking staff that is keeping the world running on the frontlines. That also means we've seen our fellow citizens bundled up in their homemade face masks and gardening gloves attempting to stay out of harm's way. At Imperfects, what we've realized is that there is not enough functional personal protective wear out there to go around, and we want to try and help in any way that we can.
As you all know, COVID-19 has taken a massive toll on small businesses worldwide and has especially impacted the retail industry that Imperfects is a part of. As we find our small business and many of our friend's businesses in dire straits, we thought up a way to be resourceful with our everyday capabilities as a product manufacturer and look toward being a part of the solution.
Our company, Imperfects , is a San Diego based surf and skate lifestyle brand that is dedicated to celebrating craftsmanship and uniqueness. All of our garments, surfboards, and skateboards are handmade in Southern California within a day's drive and are made in partnership with small, local factories. Because we cannot currently manufacture our garments, we want to find ways to provide work to sustain our business & the local factories that we normally work with. We will keep fighting to stay alive, even if it is with one arm behind our back.
So, in an effort to keep our factory friends open, we are supporting them with a small Personal Face Mask order, which will deem them an 'essential business.' This means that the factory we know and love will be able to safely operate within the legal parameters of social distancing, and we can help provide masks to essential workers in need.
HOW WILL YOUR DONATION BE USED?
We will be manufacturing 500+ masks to donate to local first responders, grocery store employees, restaurant employees, and blue-collar workers who remain open and on the frontlines during this current pandemic. For every one mask purchased through our website or donation of $20+ on GoFundMe, we will donate one mask to a worker in need. We have a form built on our website where workers are able to contact us with their shipping address and reason for a free mask. We will be responding daily with fulfillment. Being a small business ourselves, we are asking for your help in achieving our goal to help provide safety to these brave folks.
WHAT'S OUR GOAL?
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help pay for materials and labor costs in order to manufacture these masks. These non-medical grade earloop masks will be made from a 10oz Cotton Canton Flannel fabric and they will be washable and reusable.
Any proceeds exceeding our $5,000 goal will go right into furthering Imperfects development and production at this same factory partner's facility. We hope that additional donations will allow us to create more masks and more apparel but, most importantly, keep craftsmanship alive and American jobs in place.
