A Mother Planning Her Own Funeral
Donation protected
Over a year ago I was diagnosed with CML Leukaemia. I was able to get a round of chemotherapy which put me into remission. During my remission I was misdiagnosed with MS. Now the cancer has returned, and I am rapidly deteriorating.
I am in stage 2 kidney failure, and stage 2 liver failure. This makes me ineligible for IV chemotherapy and my only option is the pill replacement. The monthly cost of this is $2700.00. It takes 3 months for it to be "one full round" of chemotherapy.
Even with the help of my doctors, and the Canadian cancer society, I am unable to afford this treatment. I have been put on comfort medication to make the process of dying less painful for me. However these medications are also extremely expensive and not covered by OHIP.
This is my second fundraiser, my first attempt was for treatment, but was unsuccessful with 0 donors. I have accepted my fate and I am now planning my funeral.
I will be leaving behind my four year old son. Any extra funds will be put into an account for him. I am looking to only cover a simple cremation for myself; or whatever the next cheapest option is, as not to put a financial burden on my family.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
