Hi I Just wanted to share an update after everything that happened yesterday. Romeo was assessed with non-ambulatory paralysis (Grade 4-5), which basically means he suddenly lost the ability to use his back legs, couldn't stand or walk, and had also lost control of his bladder.

Scans showed he had a slipped disc pressing on his spinal cord in the middle of his back, which made surgery urgent.

Because of how severe it was, the vets told us that a hemilaminectomy ( a spinal surgery to remove the disc material) was the only real option to give him a real chance at recovery.

It definitely wasn't an easy decision, but it was the only choice if we wanted to try everything for him.

His surgery began at 1pm today and he will remain in the emergency hospital until Monday to recover under close supervision. He currently has a urinary catheter, which is normal for dogs in his condition.

We're still in the process of organising the funds for the surgery and are now focusing on supporting his recovery. It's been overwhelming, but we're hopeful and taking things one step at a time.
