I'm a single father of twin boys. They are 15 and headed into their sophomore year of high school. Two months ago, I unexpectedly lost my job—something I was nowhere near expecting. I worked in the Service Deli for Albertsons. It's tough work, but I made decent pay for what I was doing. Like most people, I have credit debt but was able to maintain payments. I have a roommate who does what she can to pay her portion of rent and bills. She falls short every month, but at the time, I was able to help out. When I lost my job, I saw that she was unwilling to help out in any way. My kind heart was taken advantage of. Over the last 2 months, it's been hard doing DoorDash and Uber Eats to make ends meet.
Now rent is due. I have no internet. Bills are overdue. Credit accounts are going to start going into collections. I just need to stop the bleeding. So, I've turned to my ultimate last resort... asking the community for help. I've tried so hard not to be a burden on anyone, let alone society at large. Unfortunately, I am at risk of losing my apartment. That was when I knew I needed help.
