Billy Paul isn’t just another name on a legal docket; he’s an 87-year-old Marine veteran, lifelong Meadowbrook handyman, and the man who’s fostered 34 rescue dogs over the years (yes, there’s a heart-melting photo montage to prove it). From pushing the city to widen the beachfront boardwalk to organizing holiday toy drives, Billy’s fingerprints are all over the good-news side of our town’s history.
The Crisis
After decades of living alone, Billy’s one blind spot—severe hoarding—turned his modest bungalow into a code-violation magnet. In response, an honorable judge ordered the property cleaned and repaired to city standards. A conscientious contractor did every bit of electrical, plumbing, junk removal, and safety work for $29,750—paid in full.
But now Griswold Law and Deputy City Attorney Jennifer Jacobelli claim Billy owes $70,000 in “administrative legal fees.” They’re threatening to auction Billy’s house if he can’t pay. On a fixed Social Security income, that bill is a fast track to homelessness.
Every receipt will be posted for full transparency.
Why Billy Deserves Our Help
Billy’s a salty Marine who still folds a flag with perfect corners.
Community Champion – He lobbied City Hall (successfully!) to expand the boardwalk so wheelchairs could reach the pier.
Four-Legged Hero – Thirty-four dogs rescued, nursed, and adopted over a lifetime.
Always the First to Give – When a neighbor’s roof leaked, Billy showed up—tools in hand—before sunrise.

“I’ve spent my life helping dogs and folks who needed a hand. I never imagined I’d need the help myself. Thank you for anything you can spare—money, prayers, or just a share.” — Billy Paul
Let’s show this veteran, dog-lover, and community pillar that Meadowbrook—and the internet—have his back. Together we can erase an unfair debt and let Billy live out his days in the home he built, laughter intact, porch light on, dogs at his feet.
