My name is Grace and I am hosting this GoFundMe for my Aunt Jackie who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer.  *************************************** From Jackie's daughter Kyla: First of all, I would like to thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. I am writing this for my mother and my kids’ grandmother. She needs help and me and her family will do whatever it takes to get that. My mom has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer and a hernia that prevents her from eating. She also has some spots in her stomach that lit up in a pet scan and they are waiting for more testing she cannot afford.  She see’s cancer as the number 1 problem but she needs the hernia taken care of because even if she gets cancer free, she cannot eat. It takes her an hour to eat soup because the food is nearly impossible to swallow and the cancer makes her too weak to eat. Yes, I am telling you she has cancer but that is not 100% what is causing her to not be physically able to eat. It makes me cry just typing this. A grown woman cannot live on eating my kids’ chicken and stars soup…. Know that my mom has had a very heart breaking life and I do not need to get into it too much, but she has overcome a wretched childhood and alcoholism, which was due to her painful upbringing. Despite my mother's hard upbringing she has always been there when I have called and as a grown woman myself is still the only person that I know will always be there for me. She sees me for who I am, and I am ever so grateful. OK, back to my mom… She is an amazingly hard worker and usually full of energy and it has been ripped away from her. I cannot even image what she feels having to watch her 6 grandkids play yet does not have the strength to have fun with them anymore . As her daughter she has meant the world to me, but to see what she means to my kids means so much more. My mother needs to survive, and her life should not be determined by the lack of insurance. How can any one watch someone else wither away because of a simple insurance issue. This in itself is heart wrenching.  ******************************* Jackie has no current health insurance (she's working on that and applying for disability now). She's already had several procedures that have cost over $10,000  out-of-pocket. Right now the treatment plan going forward is to remove her voice box (laryngectomy) since the cancer has spread there via another surgery and then radiation treatments. After her voice box removal she will be fed through a feeding tube for a month then she'll be able to start radiation. As you can imagine this is all going to be extremely expensive and taxing on her, plus, she is no longer able to work. Anything you can contribute to help is very much appreciated!
