Jon Mills is a loving and devoted husband, and a superstar father to 2 children and 2 step-children that he treats as his own.

On September 12th, Jon collapsed while exercising with his wife Angela and daughter Makayla. Jon suffered from a ventricular fibrillation and was revived twice (once by a good Samaritan) and the second by the EMTs. Jon also suffered a seizure from loss of blood flow to his brain.

Jon underwent surgery on September 15th to have a defibrillator implanted. He was released on September 16th, and is now home for a few weeks while he recovers. Within the next few weeks, he will consult with a cardiac specialist in Boston to determine next steps, either open heart surgery or a cardiac injection to reduce the enlarge septum.

Jon has a long road to recovery.  He should be able to focus on getting better rather than worrying about medical bills and other expenses, but unfortunately Jon is not covered by short or long term disability and their family of 6 will survive only on Angela’s income until he returns to work, which may be several months. In addition, the state does not allow anyone who experienced a cardiac arrest to drive for at least 6 months, which is also creating more hardship in an already difficult situation for the family.

The Mills family is facing out of pocket medical expenses, travel expenses and additional child care costs.  We are reaching out to anyone who is able and willing to help support previous and future medical expenses.
