Brian has always been someone others count on. Whether at work or at home, he shows up. He has built his life around serving others and being present for his family. As a husband and father of three, he has always found that being involved in everyday moments matters most to him.
For more than two decades, Brian has served in public safety as a 911 professional and emergency communications leader, helping ensure first responders have what they need to do their jobs safely.
Over the past year, our family has been facing something we never expected. What began as back surgery and a determined effort to recover turned into months of testing, hospitalizations, and time at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab searching for answers. Brian is currently being treated for ALS while awaiting final diagnostic confirmation. Despite therapy, IVIG treatments, and pushing himself to regain strength, his symptoms have continued to progress.
Brian now relies on a power wheelchair for mobility. The hardest part has not just been the physical changes, but the loss of independence and access. Leaving his house for medical appointments or family activities has become a major logistical challenge.
As Brian’s sister, I am organizing this fundraiser to help meet the most urgent needs. The greatest need right now is a wheelchair-accessible vehicle that can safely accommodate him in his power chair so he can get to treatments and remain present in his children’s activities.
Additionally, there are necessary home modifications, including lift equipment and an adjustable bed to ensure safe transfers and proper care. Ramps were installed quickly before he returned home, but additional work is needed.
These changes come with significant costs on top of ongoing medical expenses. The goal is to reduce the financial strain so Brian and his family can focus on care, stability, and time together rather than worrying about how to fund the equipment that daily life now requires.
If you feel able to give, we are deeply grateful. And if you are not in a position to contribute, sharing this page or simply keeping Brian and his family in your thoughts and prayers truly matters more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for caring about what Brian and his family are facing.
