Hi there! As a little introduction, most of yall know me as Scout, and let’s be real I’m sure this is no surprise to anybody but I have finally received top surgery! First—I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every donation, support, and kind gesture has helped me feel seen, supported, and celebrated during this life-affirming journey. Your support has carried me through the hardest parts of surgery and recovery, and I’m truly grateful. Physically, I’m healing well. Emotionally, I’m holding steady thanks to all of you. Unfortunately, I’m now facing an unexpected financial setback. The short-term disability benefits I was counting on have not yet been received. I’ve reached out to HR and my union rep, and I’m doing everything I can to resolve the issue. I’ve also asked about returning to work early, but that will ultimately depend on my doctor’s approval. In the meantime, I’m in a tight spot—especially when it comes to rent. I need support for me and my cats (Rory and Amy) to stay in my apartment in Chicago while I recover, and I’m turning to this community once more.
