Supporting 5 small children

Thank you to all who donated to Michael's self-sufficiency goal!  We surpassed our goal and are taking down the donation link!  We are currently actively seeking a vehicle.  Community members are going to the auto auction in Denver to find a decent vehicle for a decent price!
A portion of the money will be put aside for registration and insurance.

Thank you again for supporting people in your community.  The donation link here is taken down!  Please find another individual in your community who can use your help.  It will make a big difference!

We will keep you posted when we have secured a vehicle for Michael.  Hopefully this week!
Cheers!

This is a story of an individual who is a single father of 5 children under the age of 13.  Last fall he lost everything to the flood in Boulder Canyon and moved to affordable housing to piece it all together in Nederland, Colorado.

Michael has few resources and leads a simple life of few belongings and pure love for his 5 children.  He has struggled to make ends meet... as children get sick and need to stay home it is challenging to keep  steady employment.

When Michael was faced with a steady stream of calls from school that his children had fevers,  he found that he could not pay his rent on time.  He was handed an eviction notice.  Several in our community pooled our funds to pay his rent for two months so that he could get his feet back on the ground.

Michael pieces his employment together as a hanyman, doing odd jobs for people in order to pay the rent (subsidized housing) and afford basic amenities.  Michael utilizes the subsidies of the County but would really like to achieve self-sufficiency and not depend on the government systems to make ends meet.

When asked what he needs most to achieve self-sufficiency, he states, "a car."  Without a car it is very challenging to maintain a job of odd jobs for people from throughout the community.

This fund is to procure a car for Michael and his 5 children, pay the insurance and registration.  Funds will directly go toward supporting one family and their ability to move into a more positive situation of self-sufficiency.
