Light For Kids Ministries – Back to School Fundraiser

Every new school term is a moment of hope for the children at Light For Kids Ministries in Mityana, Uganda. It represents growth, promotion to a new grade, and another step toward a brighter future. But it also brings new requirements, books, uniforms, supplies, and basic necessities that many children cannot access on their own.

We are currently supporting 40 children who are returning to school this January. As a new semester begins, each child is required to have updated school supplies due to being promoted into new grades and classes. Without these essentials, many of the children would be unable to attend school consistently.

The attached budget sheet shows exactly how the funds will be used. While the total goal may appear higher than expected, we want to be fully transparent. A significant portion of this budget covers items that last the entire school year (three semesters) such as uniforms, backpacks, and P.E. kits. These are one time purchases that reduce future costs and ensure the children are properly equipped for the year ahead. Without these long term items, the cost for basic supplies alone would be closer to $1,200.

Schools reopen in the first week of January, making this campaign especially time sensitive. We have approximately 25 days to raise the necessary funds and ensure all supplies are purchased and ready before the children return to school. For this reason, donations made as early as possible are especially helpful, as they allow us to plan, purchase, and prepare everything in time.
