Help Laura recover

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Alessia Di Donato. If you are fortunate enough to know my mom and dad (Laura and Tony), you’ll know that I have been blessed with amazing parents that love my brother and I and put providing for our family above all else. You'd also know that they would never ask for help, so I am.

Together my parents have worked hard to provide for our family. In January 2018 a fall caused my mom to dislocate and break her ankle, as well as her tibia, and fibula. She required surgery and my dad worked diligently to ensure that she would be able to recover, making him the sole provider for our family. He put off his own back pain so that she would be able to recover. After a long year of rehabilitation, although my mom has been in constant pain, she felt fortunate enough to go back to work and start rebuilding, as we have suffered financially over the course of that year. She knew that my dad would be relying on her so that he could move forward with his back surgery and hopefully be rid of the constant pain that he has had to endure.

Like everyone else, the rug was pulled out from under us when COVID hit, leaving both my parents with minimal income. Just when we thought we could recuperate, on Sunday, March 19th, 2023, my mom had yet another catastrophic fall breaking her tibia/fibula in 2 places on that very same leg. She waited in the emergency room for 3 days before finally getting the surgery she needed and now has more screws and a plate over her shin. I cannot begin to express the pain and mental anguish this is causing her knowing that she will be immobile for the next 3 months, with at least another 5 months of rehabilitation before she could even consider going back to work. My dad has no choice but to continue to work while he is in constant pain and will put off his own surgery yet again.

From the experience of her first fall and knowing what the near future has in store for us, I fear that all my parents have worked for will be jeopardized. Due to my dad’s back issues and continuous pain, he is limited to the amount of work that he can do.

We are hoping that our community will find it in their hearts to donate and alleviate some of the financial burdens that will come with the recovery process as we continue to persevere and carry on. Any donation will be a blessing at this time and will be put towards home care and paying bills.

God bless all your generosity!
