Gaia's Garden is a small project in central Portugal with the objective to gain auto-sufficiency and to raise awareness about the importance of organic farming and sustainable ways of living. Integrating modern ideas, technology and permaculture principles with traditional farming methods, it will share the knowledge through direct experiences.
It  aims to bring back life to rural countryside and regenerate land which suffered from wildfires. 
 
How can you participate and how does it benefit the project, you and others? 

Any form of support will help us to grow and progress.  Become part of the community by offering a donation, by volunteering, by sharing your knowledge or skills, or simply by spreading the word. 

 In these times of uncertainties and global crises, we need more active farms and farmers, we need healthy foods, we need safe environments and resilient communities. 
Your contribution will encourage and motivate others to take first steps on the path of change that we wish to see in the world.

Donations are used towards

*forest fire prevention (waterpumps, sprinklers, water tanks, pipes, clearing forest roads)
*digger services to clear the land from invasive eucalyptus roots and offsprings - IN PROGRESS
* planting as many fruit trees and forest trees  as the farm will fit, as well vegetables and medicinal herbs - STILL NEED FUNDS FOR PURCHASING AS MANY  TREES AS WE CAN
*building materials for restoring old animal shed for donkeys
*building infrastructures for volunteers and guests, for gatherings and workshops - in PROGRESS
* irrigation systems for watering vegetable gardens
* alternative energy systems In PROGRESS
*final deeds to claim the farm - COMPLETED!  :)
*tools for working the land - COMPLETED! :)

ORGANIC FARMING and what it means to us: 
We eat to live, not live to eat. Agriculture which respects the soil, people and local ecosystem, growing clean, healthy  and diverse crops to feed ourselves and to provide quality produce to those in need, to local community, to our friends and family,  encouraging establishment of small bio-markets with local and homemade products, gift economy and exchange.
Rising awareness about the importance of organic farming among local traditional farmers through setting examples and direct results and by involving as many people as possible in our projects.
