Help Debbie with Funeral Expenses

EDIT:PLEA FROM DEBBIE’S DAUGHTER, Lydia Weatherwax.

My mother has lived most of her life with very very little and refusing to succumb to the system — made it and made do. Her journals outline the survival, some days just a can of beans & crackers for sustenance but ALWAYS coffee, tobacco & firewood (of course!) I dont know how she's done it - a Wing & a Prayer!

She has been Making Do with So Little for So Long — She Knew No Other Way and approached the whole subject w/ an Artistic & Altruistic Outlook. Feeding her soul by feeding others souls; she somehow always managed to still be able to help others; taking in the cast-away or broken hearted, offering compassion, kindness & friendship. Her selflessness has imprinted on my soul. She's always had an enterprising & independent spirit, a natural ability to make do & make it fun or make it beautiful.

An example is to see her & her husbands beautiful off-grid cabin that was built in 6 months for $30K (all their savings — $10K of it was the solar alone — of course this just before COVID and the lumber prices skyrocketed but still, the timing of that was incredible) No sooner had they acquired their land — with their lofty dreams & goals but soon after the began building, her husband, Phil, had an unexpected health issue (double bypass) so *boom* instant retirement — and here's to survival on social security.

God is Great — we do count our blessings — although they may also taste so bittersweet. With the cabin completed now, she is finally living her dream in a beautiful home lovingly built by the love of her life. Fortunately, we still have her with us to say our goodbyes & enjoy more time with her. So here we are... 1/23 .. 2022..(and it's taken me hours to type this out because its so hard).

After all this long/short life has offered - it will only be one full year that my mother will have enjoyed her husband & her home. ONE FULL YEAR as of March 1st, 2022. That is it. Don't it just kick you in the heart?! This has been her goal. Mom's put herself last for too long and now we're rounding the corner. Mom, with her independent spirit, has  already taken up the task of orchestrating her own funeral. She has designed a handmade wooden casket for herself. Built by hand by a couple (in their 80’s) out of Langlois. She chose a Pine stained mahogany w/ a moss/sage green liner. She and Phil are developing a cemetery on their land. Her headstone will have an art piece designed by a longtime artist friend/daughter/sister (Thank you Megan Doherty!!!) Still seeking a large Resting Bhudda Statue — it's The Mother of Compassion. It's the pose where Bhudda is resting his head on his knee.

She and Phil are developing a sanctuary garden space. They are seeking donations for not only help with the funeral expenses but a support buffer for her husband Phil, the love of her life. As she is deeply worried after her passing their fixed income will drop by 30%.

Thank you for any help you may offer, as it will rest her worried mind and she will feel so so relieved by seeing that balance raise up. The last thing she wants is to burden her loved ones. ANY amount is much appreciated!

We’ll get by with a Little Help from Her Friends"

ORIGINAL:
Debbie Sullivan Buxton and I have been best friends since 3rd grade — for almost 60 years! We’re actually more like sisters. It’s difficult to fathom my life without her, but I want her to have the send-off she desires.

All of us are very sad to be losing our dear friend. But the person who is making her transition bearable is Debbie herself!

She has now, as she has always had, an upbeat attitude and life affirming philosophy. In these last months of her life, she is connecting with a lifetime of friends, hosting some in the beautiful new home that her wonderful husband, Phil, built for her this past year.

Debbie plans to be buried on her property. She has designed her own headstone, and is getting a custom made casket. It concerns her terribly however, that her family will have to go into debt for her funeral expenses.

Debbie has never been ostentatious in the least. For decades she has roughed it in the Oregon woods — living on a old ‘Green Tortoise’ Hippie bus outside of Riddle, Oregon. She’s not always had it easy, but she’s always been grateful for what she does have. As long as I have known her, she would give the shirt off her back to strangers and friends alike, when they were in need.

Creativity and individuality have always been Debbie’s lifeblood. Her deep spirituality and positive attitude are giving her the courage and fortitude to plan her own departure. And because she’s a Virgo, it needs to be perfect.

Debbie hopes to remain on the Earth plane until Spring when she makes her transition. A transition… Not the end. She firmly believes this. The time left in this physical realm, she hopes to leave a legacy of love, kindness, and hope.

Let’s give her the proper send off to her next existential existence. A send off that only loving friends can provide.

Any donation is much appreciated. Thank you! ❤️
