Izzy's Journalism Trip

My name is Isabella Perez and I am a Junior at South San Francisco High School. My dream is to be a journalist.
I am in cross country and softball. I have been in  ASB for two years, my sophomore year I was the Sophomore President and now in my junior year, I am the ASB Vice President. I am also in journalism, which is a club at school and we create the school's newspaper.I have wanted to be a journalist ever since middle school, having found my passion in English. Through words, I have found a way to express myself, while giving an insight to music (another passion) and the outside world. With journalism I can connect my two passions: music and writing. Becoming a musical journalist will move me towards an occupation that gives me joy and feeds my passion. I will be able to share with the world the different varieties of music that is out there and how important every aspect is.  

I have been offered to go to a program in New York at Manhattan College to develop my skills for a future in journalism. This two week program will help me with college applications and financial aid, as well as providing workshops focused on the areas I am passionate about. The amount I am asking for is half of the tuition -- due by June. This is the part not covered by the scholarships I am working towards.
