Izzy's Summer Study in Spain
Donation protected
Hello to the village! Izzy here.
I have been given the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for my final undergrad year. I have watched many others do this and have dreamed of doing it myself one day. I am sooo hoping to be able to take advantage of this.
I have maintained a 3.28 GPA and have applied for several grants and scholarships that I'm keeping my fingers crossed on.
I have always wanted to travel, and I'm told that it is key to understanding the world we live in. I know this trip will give me perspectives I did not have before.
My greatest motivations to travel abroad stem from my hopes that through immersion into cultures unknown to me, I can expand the geographic boundaries of my perceptions, and further evolve my understanding of intercultural social structures, and people from all walks of life.
The privilege to study in Spain and travel throughout Europe this summer will give me incomparable experiences that will challenge me academically, and personally, and will allow me to learn and evolve myself into the person I know I am capable of being. And most importantly directly support my career goals.
Like most of my peers, I’ve struggled with answering the daunting question of what I want to do with my life. After some metacognitive reflection of my passions, I came to the realization that I needed to be in a career involving people, planning, and creativity.
I now confidently know that I want to pursue a career in event planning. I believe immersion into European culture and the detail oriented planning and organization required when traveling will hone my interpersonal/ intercultural skills, familiarize me with project management, and equip me to handle demanding high intensity situations. Through traveling I will gain invaluable professional skills and tools needed to be successful in the “people centric” industry of event planning.
As for costs, my research has shown me that it will be considerably less to rent a B & B as opposed to taking the school dorm or host family route. I have a friend who is going to go in on this with me so that will help too. My school loans will cover tuition.
I am looking for any assistance to cover my room and boarding and travel expenses. Between the school and my calculations they've estimated this to be
7900.
So I'm aiming to raise half and cover the rest with loans and (fingers crossed) scholarships.
My time frame to deposit is April 1 and the trip would begin
June 25-August 7
I've attached a link to the program for further reading if you are interested.

If you are able to help, I thank you. If you are not able to help, I thank you as well. You have all been so kind and loving to my mom and me over the years, and I am deeply grateful for all of you.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
Blessings,
