Hi there, my name is Izzy Vincent and I have recently been selected on the Australian Paralympic Swimming Team. I will be heading to Tokyo as part of a 32 strong para-swimming team, as the youngest member.
I was born with a condition called sacral agenesis, I began swimming following a surgery I used hydrotherapy as part of the recovery and it was suggested that I try swimming as a sport. I joined the Norwood Swimming Club Enable program and didn't look back!! I have now been swimming competitively for around 4 years.
I have gained so much more than swimming ability by being involved in the sport. I am so appreciative of the opportunities I have been given and would like to ensure that other kids with physical challenges know about the options available to them too!
One of my fundraising goals is to raise money for specialist software to display Multi-Class race results at Marion Swimming Centre meets. This software makes such a difference to competitors and spectators in feeling a part of the action by displaying real time race results, because in Multi-Class swimming, the first person to touch the wall doesn’t necessarily win! Without the software, often results are announced once the swimmers have left the water, because officials are manually calculating the mathematics that make up the final placings.
Going forward your support would go a long way to promoting inclusion, awareness and support of these awesome athletes, and my hope is that it will encourage more people to get involved in para-sport.
