Hello my name is Marco Munoz. My son Izzy who’s 2 years old. Izzy was born with a rare kidney disease called “nephrotic syndrome “, his condition has no cure and has caused him to lose both kidneys before his 2nd birthday. Izzy was also born deaf but has had cochlear implant surgery to hear.
izzy has been in dialysis and infusions his entire life, in total Izzy has had 14 operations, many months of hospital admissions which the longest was 2-3 months consecutive! Izzy is a really strong boy and has never let his conditions define him. He’s really an energetic, funny , smart baby. He’s been on the transplant list for over a year , even tho there was close calls to get a kidney something always happened that prevented it.
I (Marco/ Izzy’s dad) will be donating my kidney to Izzy . I will be in recovery for 8weeks/2months. I am not able to use short term/ long term disability since this operation is elective. I’m the only house provider since my wife is always with my son with dialysis, appointments or hospital stays. Whenever Izzy is admitted I go to work, come home change than go straight to the hospital , stay the night there and leave early in the morning to go back to work . I always want to be with Izzy through everything to be by his side and let him know that he’s alone. My wife Shirlin is always with him making sure that he has everything he needs and never leaves his side.
we love our son Izzy and want to make sure he will have his normal life that he deserves! We have been in the local news here in Charlotte and also TUDN (UNIVISION) to help spread awareness and also to help find Izzy a kidney. As his parents we have been everything we can to help Izzy. I tell my wife that we’re lucky to have Izzy as our son , even though we go through a lot that god has given us Izzy for a reason and that reason is because he knows that we will take care of Izzy 110% and not neglect him or anything! We have been doing food fundraiser here in Charlotte and back home in Kentucky (my family ) and been able to save a little bit of money but it’s not enough
we’re doing this GOFUND ME to help us out with our expenses for the next 2 months. As a dad and husband I’ve been doing everything I can to take care of my family.
