Save Resurrection Church Building
Donation protected
I am Norine Brunson, from North Carolina, and together with my husband Andrew have been in Turkey for 23 years and are involved in church planting. Andrew is ordained in the EPC (Evangelical Presbyterian Church) and are with Partners In Harvest (PIH).
On October 7, 2016, Andrew was taken into custody as a “threat to national security.” After being held for 64 days without access to a lawyer, he was officially falsely charged with "membership in an armed terrorist organization." Although no evidence was presented, he was taken to prison and remains there as he awaits further court proceedings.
Because of Andrew’s situation, the church landlord has become nervous. He is asking the church to be out by the end of April and would like to sell the little freestanding building. This is a blow, because the church is on a street that experiences heavy foot traffic. Countless people walk by on their way from the metro/bus stops to a major walking street. People are often intrigued by the church as they pass by. Some pick up New Testaments and other literature from the two window sills, others stop to look inside, ask questions and receive prayer (see video). It is one of the best locations in the city!
My husband and I have been pastoring the Resurrection Church in Izmir, Turkey, for which we are raising funds. The funds will be used to purchase the building Resurrection Church currently meets in.
This church location has been critical in sowing spiritual seeds. Resurrection Church would like to buy the building to keep blessing the community in Izmir (biblical Smyrna) in such a large way. Whether Andrew and Norine are able to stay in Turkey or not, the church will continue. Please consider giving to this key project!
Donors will receive tax-deductible receipts as the funds will go through World Outreach (a registered 501c3).
