izem's recovery, housing & studio fund

Donation protected
hi all, my name is izzy/izem- i'm trans, amazigh&romani, a 21 year old college student who is currently in recovery from a substance abuse relapse. prior to relapsing i had been sober for 3 years (go me!!), and so i more or less have what i need to pursue recovery independently. i will have secure housing when i return home- and i'll move around a lot in the following months.

on wednesday evening i suffered a seizure and reached out in a group chat to a ride to the emergency room; a white acquaintance filed a police report, mistakenly believing that i had overdosed- i came back to my apartment to a handful of cop cars outside and my RA calling me asking where i was. my room had been searched and they had found no contraband, and i explained to the officers that there was a misunderstanding because i had been sober for about a week, but because i admitted that i had relapsed, and that i had done so on campus property, i had to go through a disciplinary process that resulted in my dismissal from on-campus housing, the alternative being a police investigation being opened into my substance abuse. i have reason to believe this report was filed vindictively, this same acquaintance to file it has also repeatedly called me transphobic slurs, threatened my livelihood if i spoke out against her, etc.-- but in the end i believe going "home" will be the better option for me in restarting my recovery process, just because the options near my university, which is in a fairly rural location, are VERY limited.

i also study studio art, and being removed from campus means that i will have very limited access to resources i need to continue my practice. i specialize in ink and charcoal drawings and printmaking- i need a drafting table, screens, photo emulsion, ink, and a lightbox. i have acetates and oil markers, as well as lino and woodcut supplies, and ill be stocking up on free supplies from my arts department before i leave tomorrow, but obviously there's a discrepancy in what my university can provide me as i go remote.

even a small donation goes a long way!!! it'll help to keep my studio practice consistent so i can start selling my art to supplement income from freelancing and a possible fellowship im waiting to hear from, as well as to offset the costs of diagnostics tests and give me a headstart on rent that ill be splitting with my cousin once i go home.

i'm so profoundly grateful to you if you've read this far- in the coming weeks i'll be setting up my online portfolios and will be available for writing and art commissions. if you show proof of donation even as little as 1USD i'll gladly write or draw you something in exchange for your generosity. shukran!!
