Izabelle Rimadyl Overdose Treatment

Donation protected

Hi! This is Izabelle David. She is a 3.5-year young American Staffordshire from Lowell, MA. She grew up with her dad and his two kids until she came to me in May 2021. Her dad fell on hard times and couldn’t keep her safe. We had a mutual friend bring us together. Izzy has proven to be the real baby of the family. She loves to burrito herself in the blankets, steal your pillow and kiss until you can’t breathe. She loves to wiggle on her back, exposing her many brown freckles. She loves when I call her brown cow. She is the perfect dog in the park, friendly to every dog, ready to run and play. She truly does not have a mean bone in her body. She even smiles in her sleep.

When I rescued her, I thought it would be a foster situation. Make sure she got medical attention, good meals, and a warm bed. She’s not spayed, and I didn’t want her to fall into the wrong hands. I have a German shepherd, Inca (6.5); a ragdoll, Frank (4); and a Maine coon mix, Leo (3). Izzy has proven herself very stubborn, so Frank and Leo are at their grandma’s. I was able to provide her with vaccines, toys, many hoodies, and bully sticks for days. I truly enjoy spoiling her.

Today when I left, she haphazardly got onto the counter and got Inca’s Rimadyl medicine. All 1500mgs of what was left. Luckily, I was stuck in traffic and saw on the camera she had the medication bottle and immediately got home. We have a very specific array of toys and none of them are green plastic. I called the prescribing hospital, which advised me to call poison control. I waited for 25 minutes on the phone, googling the dosage and then went to the emergency vet. Once there, I was able to get through to poison control so they may advise the veterinarian.

Due to the high dosage, they need to keep her for 48 hours. There is a risk of kidney and liver failure, and ulcers. They will flush her system through IV and watch her stomach. Poor thing was super woozy on the ride there. I decided not to initially open a foster donation for her because I really want to keep her. However, the cost of the treatment is extremely difficult for me to cover. Any help is monumentally appreciated. I put a deposit down of the low estimate $2,966 on a credit card. It could be as much as $3,426. Breakdown is in the photos. Thank you for your kindness. Here are some photos from our first day together until today. <3
