Pearl cat has been my baby for almost 13 years- if you know me, you know about Pearl. Maybe you heard me tell stories about her while we worked together, maybe you dangled a string for her to chase in my living room, maybe you had a beer with us at the bar, maybe you watched her eat butter at a dinner party or fed her a bite of your hotdog at a bbq in my garden- or maybe you've just seen one of the 4000 pictures of her I've posted all over the internet. Either way- we are asking for your help.
a few months ago Pearl's health took a turn for the worse- I'll spare you the unappetizing details (unless you want them, just let me know)- but we ended up in the emergency vet hospital, and then again to a different vet for more blood tests, and then yet ANOTHER- and more tests. Pearl's been poked and prodded and made the vet rounds about town- and has been on courses of countless medications. We finaly got a solid diagnosis- hyperthyroidism. Pearl is rapidly losing weight, losing all her fur, can't keep food down, and has developed a heart murmur- just to list a few effects of the hyperthyroidism. If left untreated- Pearl's heart and kidneys will soon fail.

There is, however, good news! Pearl is a canidate for radioiodine therapy. Unfortunatly, all the trips to the emergency vet, blood test after blood test, ultrasounds, and failed medications have tapped her moms (my) resources and we cannot afford the radioiodine treatment and the hospitalization without your help! There is a treatment center in Shoreline (we are lucky to have one so near- some cats actually fly in to this treatment center) that can preform the therapy. http://www.felinehtc.com has additional information if you are interested.

More good news- every vet that saw and tested pearl remarked at what great shape she is in- outside of the hyperthyroidism- That with this treatment she could live another 5-8 years very happily. However- Pearl deteriorates quickly and needs the treatment within the next few weeks. This is why I've come to you for help. Pearl means the world to me, and I will do everything in my power to keep her healthy and happy. Please, whatever you can do to help us, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
