Lawn Care for Elderly: Hiring a Full-Time Employee
Tax deductible
I'm raising money to benefit I Want To Mow Your Lawn Inc. a registered 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. A pandemic-born charity providing FREE Lawn Care to Elderly & Others in need through its network of volunteers spanning across 35 states. To date we’ve helped over 300 people with their properties.
Our story has been featured in over 350 media outlets globally including an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show and part of a short-film documentary called “PIVOT ” showcasing others affected during the pandemic and turning it into positive news.
Started helping others with my personal after I got laid off from my advertising job in June 2020. Meanwhile had an 8 month pregnant wife quarantining at home and my dad battling brain cancer at the time. Delivering the news to them about the job loss was hard. But I wanted to let them know I’d be OK. My late father contributed to the original GoFundMe which reached its goal to help become an official 501c3.
I just wanted to make him proud. He’s been my inspiration to keep the #mowmentum going.
Running any business and building a brand is very hard work. Especially when there’s no income and a family to provide for and spend time with. Got a toddler at home!
Thankfully I’m back to work full-time now and able to pay bills again. With my employers blessing, I’m able to keep this non-profit organization and charitable cause going on the side!
We currently have a fully functional website @ IWantToMowYourLawn receiving signups from both clients and volunteers all across the USA. It’s nowhere near automatic and still requires manual hands-on in many areas of the business.
There’s only so much time in a day, and one day I would love to raise enough to re-invest in the technology and automation of our platform in an effort to scale faster and help as many people as possible. That’s going to take some extra time and future fundraising.
The lowest hanging fruit right now, where we can really see a measurable difference is hiring our first ever employee full-time to help me with overall marketing and operations. Probably the single most important decision and path forward towards continuing our mission.
This future Rockstar employee will be my right hand person doing daily tasks and taking some weight off my shoulders - these tasks include but not limited to: client relations, volunteer relations, voicemail monitoring, social media and web content. There’s a lot of time sensitive communications and connections to be made, and I just can’t keep up (to be honest). We're getting on average 5-10 client inquiries per day!
We’ve only been able to service 20% of all client inquiries year to date. 70% of inquiries come by way of voicemail and the rest online via our website, social media and emails. The most important thing come 2022 and beyond is improving lead to conversion time (that is the time a client fills out a request to the time we match-up a volunteer nearby and facilitate a connection).
The goal amount I’m asking for is to cover a full year's salary for hiring of full-time employee and will provide enough runway to raise more funds to potentially hire more staff! This goal amount should be a competitive full-time salary for a position in a non-profit organization. Preferably as a paid internship through an accredited institution but really open to anyone here in the USA can work with this dollar amount. The beauty is this person will have the comfort to perform their work duties from their home and make a real difference in the world in the process. Even if the goal is nowhere near met, any and every penny raised through this particular fundraiser would still go towards hiring on-demand help even if it’s on a contract or part-time basis. Or if somehow magically the goal is surpassed, those additional funds will be placed in reserves for additional hiring of staff.
Thanks for your support!
