Ivy's Medical bills for Cancer treatment
Donation protected
Ivy isn’t just our cat, she’s a member of our family. She’s my baby, my heart. She’s Benji and Cassidy’s fur sister. She and Benji are best friends. They’ve been inseparable since he was born. She’s been my emotional support through so many ups and downs and my comfort when I’m not well. She always knows when something is up and gives me the extra love I need, when I need it. She’s my fur companion.
One morning, she suddenly had a large lump on her neck and her pupil size was no longer in sync.
I brought her to the vet immediately. She had an assessment, blood work was done (which showed she was anemic), and she was given 2 shots. Anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. We then started her on medication at home. Also anti-inflammatory and antibiotic meds. Over the course of about 10 days, her pupils looked closer in size and the lump on her neck started to get smaller. She had a follow-up appointment and the vet said to put her on another round of meds. We assumed it would work since the first round made a difference. We also started her on vitamin B plex for her anemia.
The medication stopped working and the lump came back double in size. The next thing to do was a biopsy. Not just fine needle aspiration, they needed a chunk of the sample so they cut it open and took what they needed. Sadly, on August 15th, she was diagnosed with lymphoma which is malignant cancer.
Up until now, the medical bills have already accumulated to $2,400 with another $5,000-$8,000 (more or less) projected by the oncologist depending on treatment going forward.
Some people don’t agree with me spending all this money on “just a cat” especially money I don’t have, but I can’t just give up on her.
I’ve cried a million tears from the moment this nightmare began. Losing her would be hard enough on me, but to have to mend Benji and Cassidy’s hearts while my heart breaks will kill me inside. We love her so much. Ivy is only 8. The most beautiful 8-year-old Savannah, ever. We should still have at least another 8 more years with her.
One way or another, I have to pay to make her better but if there is anyone out there willing to donate and make these medical bills a little easier on me, I’d be forever grateful.
