After giving birth to her second child, Ivy suddenly began to experience coughing spells and shortness of breath. She went to numerous appointments with no answers. In November of 2020, she underwent a lung biopsy. The biopsy gave doctors reason to believe she had Interstitial Lung Disease. ILD has seriously reduced Ivy's quality of life. She is oxygen dependent, making every day tasks a challenge.
As you can imagine, this diagnosis hit the whole family hard; physically, emotionally, and especially financially. Ivy and her husband Andrew have made constant trips to Denver to visit specialists; leaving their children, ages 7 and 5, with family and friends over eight hours away for days at a time.
After four difficult years of searching for ways to feel better, Ivy has been given the opportunity to have a double lung transplant at Denver UCHealth.
Ivy and Andrew desperately need support with expenses. Not only for the transplant surgery and all the costs associated, but for living expenses while in Denver. They will have to stay in Denver until she is matched with a donor. After the transplant, they will have to stay for several months to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Ivy's wish is to continue being a wife and mother. Please consider donating to Ivy and her new lungs!
