I am fundraising on behalf of a Lafayette, Colorado family in need. Sweet, 13-year-old Eliza Ferraris is recovering from major surgery, and her mom hasn’t been able to work because of the extra care her disabled daughter requires.

Eliza is a go-getter who lives with autism, intellectual disability, and Trisomy X.

Despite her constellation of challenges, Eliza has grown and even become a peer mentor to other students at Angevine Middle School.

Earlier this spring, her mom, Ivy Rain, learned that Eliza needed bilateral femoral de-rotational surgeries to straighten both her legs. Ivy, a single parent who has raised Eliza and her older brother on her own, hasn’t been able to earn a paycheck since March 2025 because she needed to help her daughter do her physical therapy exercises for weeks so she’d be strong enough for the surgery.

The operation was expected to take 4 hours but ended up taking more than twice as long. Eliza ended up struggling in the pediatric ICU after the prolonged period of anesthesia.

Eliza has been using a wheelchair ever since while her family supports her slow recovery.

This means Ivy still can’t work and needs financial help at this time.

Hopefully, Eliza will begin high school in the fall. In the meantime, it would mean a great deal for her family to receive your support, truly in any amount you can contribute.
