Ivonne's high risk pregnancy medical expenses

Hi, I am Ricardo Searcy. My daughter Ivonne is 7.5 months pregnant and 4 months ago, her unborn baby Julieta was diagnosed with a congenital complex heart malformation. This high-risk pregnancy means that the baby must be born through a C-section and undergo several heart surgeries after birth.

Of course, this was very sad news for all our family, especially considering that we lost an Ivonne’s sister, because of a similar congenital cardiopathy, when she was a 7-month baby. So we had to find the best we could for Ivonne and her unborn baby and she is currently attended at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Mothers and Newborns in San Diego.

As you would expect, medical expenses are very high and increasing, which is an unexpected situation we were not prepared for. Ivonne does not have health insurance, has a 5-year daughter and has a part-time job she is no longer attending following medical recommendations.

We initially thought this situation could be handled by gathering funds from close family and friends, but unfortunately, we concluded this is not possible. Fortunately, it seems that her daughter will have medical insurance once she is born, to take care of her heart surgeries and treatment.

Therefore, we are organizing this fundraiser to collect donations that would cover Ivonne’s medical expenses, including diagnostic testing (frequent fetal ultrasounds and echocardiograms, amniocentesis, genetic tests, blood analyses, etc.), medical appointments, hospital fees, C-section, medications, etc., as well as to replace Ivonne’s income.

Hola, Soy Ricardo Searcy. Mi hija Ivonne tiene 7.5 meses de embarazo y hace 4 meses le detectaron a su bebé una malformación congénita compleja del corazón. Este embarazo de alto riesgo implica que la bebé debe nacer por cesárea y requerirá varias cirugías después de su nacimiento.

Desde luego, esta fue una muy mala noticia para toda nuestra familia, especialmente considerando que perdimos a una hermana de Ivonne de 7 meses de edad, debido a una cardiopatía congénita similar. De modo que tuvimos que buscar lo mejor para Ivonne y su bebé y es atendida actualmente en el hospital Sharp Mary Birch para Madres y Recién Nacidos, en San Diego.
