Dear friends and family,

We have struggled for a while with whether to share this deeply personal and intimate issue with you because it is not in either of our natures to burden others with a request for financial help. With that said, we want to share a little story to provide some context to the help we are requesting from those whom we know and love.

On November 29, 2019, Chad and I’s life changed forever. Not many of you know this but I was seven weeks pregnant at that time. I had known I was pregnant for about three weeks at this point. I was going to all my doctors’ appointments and getting my blood work done regularly and my hCG levels were rising appropriately. We had one pregnancy in May which ended in a miscarriage so we were taking all the precautions with this one. When I found out I was pregnant it was the best day of our lives and when my numbers were looking like they were supposed to every day we were getting happier and happier.

So on November 29, 2019, my doctor wanted me to go in for an ultrasound just to make sure everything looked OK. At that appointment I got what I thought would be the worst news of my life, my pregnancy was ectopic. For those of you that don’t know what an ectopic pregnancy is, it’s when the embryo forms in your fallopian tube instead of in your uterus where it’s supposed to, so I had a full seven week embryo with a heartbeat in my fallopian tube. This is very dangerous because your fallopian tube can rupture and you can bleed to death. My doctor had me rush over to the emergency room where I was to have emergency surgery. As you can imagine we were devastated by this news, completely and utterly devastated. I had to have surgery to basically terminate my pregnancy. The pregnancy damaged my fallopian tube and so I also had to get my left fallopian tube removed at the same time they were removing the baby.

When I woke up from surgery I got even worse news than I had gotten before surgery, which I didn’t think was possible. The doctor discovered that I did not have a right ovary. I was born with only one ovary (my left ovary), which is a very rare case. So since they had to remove my left fallopian tube and now finding out that I have no right ovary my chances of having a baby again the natural way are over. I still have my left ovary which has eggs in it and can be used to create a baby it just can’t be done through sex. Our only option now is IVF. And because I only have one ovary they would have to do two rounds of egg retrieval to get enough eggs that they feel confident will result in a pregnancy.

IVF is going to cost us roughly around $35,000 and we are kind of at a standstill. We have looked into financing and we can’t get approved since we have some debt already. This isn’t just a want, it’s a need. I need to have a baby and I want to carry my baby and have those 9 months of precious bonding time. We don’t understand why this has to be so hard.  We are so in love and just want to create a little human from that love.
