IVF journey to Baby Correa
Donation protected
For nearly 10 years, Sarah has given selflessly to her profession of nursing. Her husband, Jonathan, is a police officer who has also given selflessly to the community of St. Augustine. It would be impossible to list all the reasons why Sarah is a great wife, nurse, friend, sister, daughter, aunt and colleague, but fortunately, many of you have had the privilege of witnessing one of her many roles first hand.
Of her many qualities, selflessness encompasses who she is in all her roles. It is because of this trait that she would be the last person to ask for contribution from others. Many of you may not know (because Sarah rarely chooses to speak about herself and instead lends a listening ear to others); she and her husband have been trying to conceive a child to start their family.
Over the past 9 years, Sarah and Jonathan have been open to starting a family. They have actively been trying to conceive for 6 years. It was not until the last few years that it became apparent that the journey was more difficult than they could have ever imagined.
Sarah and Jonathan have undergone intense and expensive fertility testing, ovulation tracking, doctor visits, ultrasounds, surgery, fertility medications, and even several unsuccessful intrauterine inseminations. It has been an emotional roller coaster to say the least.
Through these difficult and heartbreaking times, Sarah and Jonathan continue to open their home to friends and family by hosting multiple baby showers, children’s birthday parties, special events and do so willingly with nothing but love and adoration, never once growing jealous or bitter. That is truly remarkable.
After several years of failed attempts and being the compassionate people they are, they have prayerfully considered private adoption and IVF. IVF was laid on their hearts as the decision for their family at this time. It comes by no surprise that the combined wages of a police officer and a nurse are an honest living, but by no means lucrative enough to easily fund a 60,000-dollar private Florida adoption or a 20,000-dollar IVF process. It is a likely possibility that it can require multiple rounds of IVF for success. None of this process or medications are covered under their insurance.
As good stewards of their money, Jonathan and Sarah are willing to make the financial sacrifices to have a chance at IVF. Sarah has even decided to leave her position at Baptist South after almost 10 years in order to do travel nursing and seek other opportunities for a better salary. This will require her to travel to and from other cities and be away from her husband.
Sarah is a leader amongst nurses and contributes to her community daily in providing excellent care to her patients. She is seen by her peers and trusted by physicians as one of the most impressive and competent nurses in her specialty. Jonathan goes above and beyond the call of duty receiving accolades from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, is involved with SWAT and honor guard, and is a drug recognition expert. Together they are heavily involved in the lives of their 11 nieces and nephews. They help care for them providing examples of exceptional adult role models.
It is no doubt these two individuals will make incredible parents and are so deserving. If you are reading this, it is likely that one of these individuals impacted your life in an immeasurable way. Because of this-it is my wish that if you have been personally touched through your friendship with the Correas, or have enjoyed a party or event at their home- you would return the favor and consider donating (even a small amount) to help with the incredible financial burden that this places on the Correa family. They look forward to updating everyone on their journey.
