IVF Journey To Baby Campolongo

Hi, if you are reading this and you don't know us. Our names are Carrie and Marc Campolongo.

We honestly never thought that we would be starting a GoFundMe or asking for help from friends, family and even strangers on this journey, but here we are. After many years of trying, multiple medications, lots of blood work, testing and ultrasounds. We are at a point where we have no other option than IVF to have a child of our own.

Carrie was Diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) in 2021. PCOS is a hormonal disorder that affects the ovaries, typically resulting in health issues, including infertility. Knowing that I have PCOS is bittersweet, as it gave us answers as to why we were not getting pregnant but we still didn't know how to correct the issue.

We kept a positive outlook and tried multiple different medications, and switched to a different doctor at a hospital that is more known for helping people with PCOS. Tried more medicine, and had more blood work and more ultrasounds, with 0 success. At this point, we had a meeting with our doctor who advised that because the medication is not working with Carrie's body, the next option would be IVF. This made us hopeful until we heard that we would have to pay all costs upfront. $14,000, plus the injections, which is around $5,000. We got ahold of our insurance company, just to find out that IVF is "electable" and is not covered by insurance at all, as it is not "medically necessary".

At this point, we hit an all-time low. 2 years have gone by and we had nothing to show for it. We are no closer to having a family of our own, and all trying has been brought to a halt, as we try to figure out how to pay for IVF upfront.

Infertility / IVF is already such an emotionally taxing situation to be in, and adding the stress of finances has been incredibly tough. We have always wanted to have a big family with children of our own. Although this has been a challenging journey, we just hope that one day we'll be able to have the family that we have always dreamed of.
