We are reaching out to share our deeply personal journey and ask for your help. We thought our journey to parenthood would be exciting, fun, and joyful. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Here is a short synopsis of our journey so far...
2021 - Prior to a kidney stone removal, we incidentally found out about fertility concerns for Wendlin. After seeing a specialist in Minneapolis, we were devastated to discover Wendlin was unable to have children of his own. We took time to process this news and made a plan for our future as parents.
2022 - We decided to pursue adoption. We were educated on the lengthy and emotional process but remained hopeful through the months of waiting.
2023 - After over a year on the waitlist, we received a letter stating our adoption agency was closing. We were unable to be referred to another agency and lost our deposit. Again, we took time to process our unfortunate luck.
2024 - We began IUI treatment with a donor. Sadly, we experienced 4 failed rounds of IUI. In October, our doctor referred us to fertility specialists in Minneapolis to begin IVF treatment.
Needless to say, this has been an extremely difficult, emotional, and financially draining process. While we’re hopeful and excited about this possibility, the financial burden of IVF is significant, and insurance won’t cover many of the associated costs. That’s why we’re turning to our community for support.
The funds raised will go toward covering:
Starting fee - $2985
Fertility medications - $4025
Medical monitoring - $3500
Laboratory fees - $2610
A potential endometrial surgery for Amanda
No amount is too small, and every donation brings us closer to our dream of becoming parents. Even if you’re unable to contribute, sharing our story with others means the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. We’re so grateful to have your support on this journey.
With love and gratitude,
Amanda + Wendlin
Update:
Thank you to everyone who has donated! We had our egg retrieval on January 14th. They were able to retrieve 10 eggs, 7 of which were mature. We had 5 eggs fertilize and 2 make it to the embryo stage (day 5). Those 2 embryos were sent in for genetic testing for chromosomal abnormalities. Unfortunately, both embryos came back as aneuploid, which means they are unable to be implanted.
We have decided to do one more round of IVF in hopes of having a better outcome. Wish us luck!
