Iverson’s Medical Bills

4/29 UPDATE:
Iverson has made a lot of progress. He hates med time with a passion but we have to continue on them until told otherwise. Follow up with the vet is 5/4.
In the meantime, his older brother Jake decided to eat a rubber band and has not passed it. He goes for an ultrasound on 5/5. This GFM may become a combo for both of them now.
4/22 UPDATE:
Iverson went to the vet for a follow up yesterday. Blood tests showed improvement and cancer has been eliminated from possibilities. He was allowed to come out of isolation as he has been eating some and drinking water.
He remains on his meds for at least another month to see if his liver enzymes continue to improve. The cost of his meds were nearly $500 along with the check up. He has another follow up in 2 weeks.
As for now he is happy to be out of my room and back with his brothers. He has regained much of his personality and some socialization skills (but he didn’t have many to begin with). He absolutely HATES med time, but he still has to take them twice a day.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this fund.
4/14 UPDATE:
Iverson has returned home due to the cost of keeping him another night (+$1500). Due to the cost of services needed, his care is dictated upon finances.
the doctor believes it could be cholangiohepatitis (bacterial infection or sterile inflammation of the liver/bile ducts), hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) or cancer (lymphoma).
He is on antibiotics and being monitored as closely as I can (since he has 2 brothers). He will need a follow up in 1-2 weeks unless he has not eaten or drank any water by Monday.
Anyone who knows me in person, or on social media knows how much I loves all 3 of my cats.
Iverson has had a sudden, unexpected steady decline in his health since turning 4 in March. He had a vet visit on Tuesday and they believed he had a blockage in his lower intestines. He had some blood work taken and I was told that if he didn’t show signs of improvement in 24-48 hours to call back for an X-Ray and possible other treatments. He has not made any improvement and his condition has gotten worse, so I made a follow up with the vet.
I was told by the vet to take him to the vet ER immediately (after review of his labs). His skin and gums are jaundiced. He’s being held overnight in critical condition with elevated liver enzymes which is indication of serious liver infection, and potentially liver failure. The vet is somewhat optimistic that given his age, and the right care he can potentially get back to his chirpy self.
Any type of support is appreciated, as I was not prepared for this type of emergency situation.
