Ivan Avila Memorial Fund (to help out the family)
Manhattan Pizzeria has lost one of our own. On June 18th Ivan Avila , was shot to death outside his home last Thursday night, due to mistaken identity. Ivan was not in a gang, but where he lived in South Central, gang violence was prevalent. I’m writing you this letter, with a heavy heart. Ivan Avila worked the oven, and with most of my oven guys, the oven seeks them out, because the oven is such a grueling position, it’s hot, the ovens are both cranking at 600 degrees all day , and all night. To Do it takes a certain type of person to work those double stack pizza ovens, and Ivan not only felt the calling, he was perfect for the position, the best Oven guy we’ve had at the oven in a long time..
My name is Bobby Eskowitz, I’ve owned Manhattan pizzeria for over 21 years now, and my greatest joy, is to see my guys flourish after leaving the pizzeria... Ivan was still a young man, and he will be missed by all...
Ivan Avila from August 1, 1985 till June 18, 2021.
Ivan family really needs help, from our community to South Central, Ivan’s neighborhood, let’s show them how caring, kind, and generous our Little Beach Community we are down here. Ivan put his blood, sweat and tears into the pizza place, please let’s rally around his family and show them what a great beach community we are, and we help support those who are less fortunate than we are..
Thank you for your generosity,
Manhattan pizzeria family
