Itty Bitty One-Eyed Kitty Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
I am normally not one to post about needing help, but currently I am really struggling as unexpected vet expenses have come up for my 3 year old, one-eyed cat, Franco. After a year of dealing with off and on ear infections that resulted in severe dizzy spells with an inability to walk, vomiting and extreme lethargy, we are finally working towards some answers for this spunky one-eyed kitty.

Next week, Franco is going to get an MRI and will have to go under anesthesia to have his ear drums flushed. After visiting our local vet a few times for what was believed to be a persistent ear infection, we have begun working with the animal hospital at Mizzou in Columbia to work with specialists. A few weeks ago he went through a ear, neuro and cardio consult with blood samplings, heartworm tests, x-rays and an EKG. The vets found that his ear drums are entirely full of fluid, and the scar tissue from his eye removal when he was a kitten has left bumpy surfaces in his ears and his nose that cause bacteria, dust, etc. to collect and develop into infections. Due to his extreme cognitive impairments when he gets sick, the vets are also concerned about neurological issues that may be present.

All that being said, it has been a stressful few months trying to determine what is making him sick and, unfortunately, the MRI alone is estimated at around $2000-2500.  The anesthesia, ear flushing, continued blood work and additional routine vet costs for the visit are estimated to be around $2000 since he will have to have consults between the neurology and ear cytology department. Any funds outside this estimate would be used for his continual healthcare.

His last appointment was a little over $800, and I currently do not have the funds for the treatment that he needs next week at his appointment. The animal hospital does not offer any financial assistance or payment plans, so I am at a loss what to do and defeatedly asking for assistance to get him the help he needs.

This next visit is extremely important in determining his cognitive health and restoring his ear drums so he is not disoriented anymore. Having only one eye affects his natural orientation in the first place, so I am really hoping this appointment will get him healthy, back on his itty bitty toe beans bouncing around again!

Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated!
