On Sunday, October 21st, we will hold our third annual NYC Stutters Conference , a one-day event by and for adults (16+) who stutter. Our workshops will cover topics like the disability rights movement, workplace advocacy and community building. Our goal is to help attendees navigate life with dignity, pride and a sense of belonging.
We are a team of adults that volunteer together in NYC to sustain a strong stuttering community. In addition to this annual conference, we lead monthly support groups via the National Stuttering Association, work with various organizations for kids and their families, and partner with local speech therapists to advance the understanding of stuttering.
To make this year's conference a reality, we are asking for your help. Our goal is to raise $2,500, which will help cover the cost of rental space, AV equipment, workshop and marketing materials, and refreshments. We are 100% volunteer-run and non-profit, and our events are low cost as to be accessible to all New Yorkers who stutter.
Any amount you can give will go a long way towards providing people who stutter a place where they can connect and come away with a sense of empowerment. 100% of additional funds will be directed towards stuttering advocacy events in NYC.
