Not many people can say that their father is a superhero, but I am one of the lucky ones that can. He truly is the bionic man. Seven years ago, my dad, was in terrible motorcycle accident. A deer jumped directly into him causing him to hit a telephone pole and was thrown from his bike. The impact caused him to have a shattered pelvis, as well as severe injuries to his right leg. The following weeks he became the bionic man, titanium and all! In the coming months he progressed from a wheelchair to a walker to crutches to a cane- however the feeling in his right leg never returned. He beat the odds then and now it isn't any different. On September 26, 2017 a lemon sized mass was discovered behind his right eye in front of his brain. No symptoms, a miracle that it was even discovered. Within days he had the tumor removed and bounced back quickly and after a few days he was discharged. Doctors were amazed by his progress. But this battle wasn't over yet. The malignant tumor happened to be brain cancer; Glioblastoma. The world sees cancer, but I see a super power. After extensive research my sister and I discovered all roads lead to Duke University in North Carolina.  In October, we got our phone call from Dr. Henry Friedman, the head of the Brain Tumor Insitute and he was hopeful that Duke had the "weapons" we needed to fight this. So, at the beginning of November the Links were off to North Carolina! Duke is on the front lines with Glioblastoma and us Link Warriors are ready to fight!  Any gifts will be used for travel expenses, lodging, prior medical bills, current medical bills, treatment, and overall care for my father. More than ever we need more warriors to help us stand up against this!
