In early June, Marquetta 'Quetta' Young was placed in MUSC and discovered her sickness was due to heart failure and an enlarged heart. Until the beginning of July, she was showing signs of recovery and doing very well; after returning home for a month, Quetta started showing signs of fluid building back up in her body. Quetta was admitted into MUSC, where the outcome leaned towards a heart transplant.
Time went very quickly, and they suggested that she be added to the donor list. Quetta was put on the heart transplant list on Sunday, September 11, 2022, and on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, a heart was available.
Words from Mario (Quetta's Brother):
Quetta is one of the most remarkable women I have ever known. She's always been full of energy and loud, never afraid to tell you how it is and what she's feeling, and I've always commended her for being herself even when other people think it's not how she should be. I never In A Million years would think of all the people my sister would need a heart transplant, and she never did either... My sister and I have a relationship that I believe many wish they had, and I've been by her side the entire time. Quetta is ready to return to her typical days of life, which is now considered a new life with this heart transplant. She is a wonderful person inside and out. She over-cares for people she loves going over the top to help if she can get a sense of humor cause even as we're going through this, we continue to smile and laugh with her through this Journey.
