It's Official! Congratulations Maynard & Garcia

San Joaquin BassMasters fishing team of Ian Maynard and Mateo Garcia are on their way to LaCrosse, WI for the High School World Finals and National Championships!

This will be a very expensive tournament and every dollar will count. Thank you for the support, they will do their best to represent California, our team, and our sponsors. We need your help to get them there! It's a 3400-mile round trip!

Ian participates in multiple bass groups such as San Joaquin BassMasters and Norcal H.S. Team and takes every opportunity to get out on the water. This is his 3rd year with San Joaquin BassMasters and the team co-captain with Mateo Garcia. It is his dream to become a professional bass angler. One of the biggest steps for his dream is to go to nationals again! This will be Ian's 2nd time qualifying and his last opportunity for a national championship for high school fishing since he graduated this year! Ian takes every opportunity to get out on the water, if he isn't out there for a tournament he's usually out there pre-fishing, training and when he's not out in the water you can almost be certain his computer is on YouTube, watching a Pro! It's Ian's biggest priority right now to fish the Nationals and he's so proud to represent his San Joaquin team and team sponsors!

Mateo is a dedicated person to his family, friends and fishing. He shows professionalism and sportsmanship to his other teammates. Mateo has been with San Joaquin BassMasters for 2 years and is also our co-captain with Ian Maynard. It was Mateo's goal at the beginning of the season to qualify for the Nationals, and with hard work and dedication, he has achieved that goal with his partner. When Mateo is not on the water, he is an avid outdoorsman, hunting, camping and hiking but his passion is bass fishing! Mateo is always learning techniques, watching YouTube and the Delta Report, having conversations with our coaches, learning the 'secret spots' to fish on the Delta, asking questions about the trade and making sure he is tournament ready! Mateo is one of San Joaquin BassMasters heavy hitters even though he just started participating in tournaments an over a year and a half now!

This is a great opportunity for both Ian and Mateo to gain exposure to the big leagues as they both wish to advance their skill sets in bass fishing and maybe one day become professional anglers!
