My laptop has officially gone to Apple heaven.
We have no budget to replace it and I need to do it very soon. I’m in a bit of a panic.
I work for myself and my laptop is a crucial tool for how I bring in my income. I need one that has the capacity for me to host webinars, edit and store videos, compile large amounts of research, and then the usual storage for documents etc. Not to mention, it’s very necessary for me to finish writing my book (nearly 1/3 of it is written and I don’t want to lose momentum as I have publishers waiting).
For those that don’t know me, I’m an artist, writer, consultant and public educator on issues of justice and equity. I bring in a very modest income due to my value of economic justice. A good deal of my work is done on a sliding scale or pro bono basis. This is work I can’t continue to do if I don’t have the right equipment. The amount I set this GoFundMe at is based on what it will cost to replace my MacBook Pro. It actually costs more than that but I’m trying to put my own money towards it too. I want to replace my Mac with another Mac because I have the iPhone that I use daily for work and the iPad that I use for work travel/speaking gigs/teaching. Keeping it all Apple means it connects seamlessly and I can access everything I need anywhere I go. It’s basically my portable office. I want to make sure I end up with one that I could use for as long as I did this one (nearly 6 years) so that I’m not in this same situation a year or two from now.
