For nearly five years, my dad, Gary Heidler, has been the quiet, tireless backbone of our family. At 78 years of age, he has devoted himself entirely to caring for my mom, Karen, who lives with severe COPD and depends on oxygen to get through each day. He has done this without complaint, without rest, and without asking for anything in return — because that is simply who he is.
At the same time, my dad had been pouring himself into supporting my sister, Renee, for years — doing everything in his power to help her build a better life when she had been going down the wrong path. He gave her everything he had, driven by nothing but love for his daughter.
This past week, our family suffered an unimaginable loss with the passing my sister. In the midst of his grief, my dad now faces the heartbreaking task of burying his daughter while continuing to show up every single day for my mom.
Today (March 16th, 2026) Gary turns 78 years of age.
My Dad has never asked for help. I am asking for him. If you can give anything — even just sharing this page — it would mean the world to our family during the hardest season of our lives.
Any funds raised will go directly toward funeral expenses for my sister, in-home care support for my mom, and providing my dad some financial relief so that for once, someone can take care of him the way he has taken care of everyone else.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
