***EDIT*** We WAS just asking for £1, however, due to guidelines the minimum donation is £5 so we’ve had to change it.
Jo’s Hope is a non profit charity and we are doing this page to generate as much as we can for this amazing charity which helps in many different areas. We have listed some of the areas which the charity offers, however, there are more areas which can be found on the website www.joshope.org
Help Us Keep Jo’s Hope Alive for Families Who Need Us Most
Behind every service we provide is a real family.
A parent choosing between heating and food.
A child going without Christmas dinner.
A woman facing breast cancer feeling frightened and alone.
Jo’s Hope exists for them.
What started as one woman wanting to make a difference has grown into a lifeline for families across our community. Every week, we see first-hand the impact of rising costs, illness, and hardship — and we step in where we can.
Supporting Families in Poverty
Our Bargain Shop opens its doors Monday to Friday (and every other Saturday), offering everyday essentials at heavily reduced prices. For many families, this means being able to afford toiletries, food, and household basics without falling further into debt.
Through our Toy Shop, parents can buy toys at half the usual price all year round. Because every child deserves birthdays and special moments — even when money is tight.
Every Monday, we give away free food including fresh fruit and vegetables, ready meals, potatoes, bread and more. For some families, this is the difference between eating and going without.
At Christmas 2025, we delivered 46 full hampers to families in need. Each one included fresh turkeys or whole chickens, potatoes, vegetables, tinned goods, biscuits and desserts — helping families sit down to a proper Christmas meal when they otherwise wouldn’t have had one.
Standing Beside Those Facing Cancer
A cancer diagnosis changes everything.
Our Resilient Warriors Breast Cancer Support Group meets weekly, offering a safe and welcoming space where no one has to explain how they feel — because everyone understands.
We provide counselling for patients and their families, ongoing emotional support, and practical help such as post-surgery bras for breast cancer patients. These small things make a huge difference during one of the hardest times in someone’s life.
No one should face cancer alone — and at Jo’s Hope, they don’t have to.
Creating Connection and Opportunity
Loneliness is another silent struggle in our community.
Our Helping Hands Wellbeing Coffee Morning runs every Friday, offering a warm space, a hot drink, a bacon roll, and — most importantly — someone to talk to. We also provide help with forms, benefits advice, and digital support for those who feel overwhelmed.
For young people aged 9–18, our free weekly Musical Theatre Club offers singing, dancing and acting. The children also receive a hot meal during the club. For many of these young people, this is their safe place — somewhere they feel valued, confident, and included. Jo gives her time freely to make sure cost is never a barrier to opportunity.
Why We Need Your Help -
The demand for our support is growing every month. Families are struggling more than ever, and we refuse to turn people away.
Your donation will help us:
• Keep food on tables
• Keep our shop shelves stocked
• Support cancer patients with practical essentials
• Provide safe spaces for young people
• Continue being a lifeline for those who have nowhere else to turn
* Keep our building open and the lights on
Every pound makes a difference. Every share helps us reach someone who cares.
With your support, Jo’s Hope can continue to bring dignity, warmth, and hope to families who need it most.
We are not asking for much we simply ask that as many people as possible donate just £5, this was only £1 but the minimum is £5 sadly. Our target may seem extreme but even if you aren’t able to do the £5 please, please share across all media platforms, let’s get this going viral!!
All help is extremely appreciated and on behalf of Jo’s Hope charity we thank you all greatly.
All areas mentioned are carried out by Jo and a few volunteers and their time and efforts are given freely with no wage. Please help us get this amazing charity the much needed funding it deserves!!
