I’ve known Melissa Cleary since we were five so I am well aware that she is not the type of person to ask for help. However, as her friend, I’m ignoring that and making this page. In an attempt to stay in line with what she would want, I will try and keep this brief. Here’s the story…
On July 4th Melissa ended up in the ER with severe pain and what she thought was an ovarian cyst rupturing. That was not the case. After an emergency surgery and the biopsy that followed, she learned that she had cancer. In the recent weeks, she has been through multiple surgeries and tomorrow (8/17) she starts chemo. The doctors are optimistic that this can be beat with a few rounds of chemo but the reality is that it will be taking her away from work and normal life.
If you know Melissa (and if you are here, I’m guessing you do), then you know this is NOT how she would want to go about any fundraising effort. She would want a great party with a kick-ass band, and awesome food and beverages. Unfortunately, COVID and her health will not allow that. When she kicks this cancer’s ass….and COVID is a thing of the past…we will party it up and talk about how strong a fighter she was through all this.
In the meantime, she and her girls could use your help so I leave you with this…
