It's Dean's World, Let's Help Him See It!
Donation protected
My 9 year old son, Dean was born with a rare disorder called Stickler Syndrome type 2 . Along with early onset arthritis, type II also consists of hearing and vision loss. Dean is legally blind, has cataracts, and astigmatism in both eyes. He has to wear contacts and prescription glasses to help him get around. He has been through two retinal surgeries to help prevent retinal detachment and permanent blindness. Overall we are so proud of the way this boy manages his daily life. He is truly remarkable! We actually found a company called eSight. They make a device for visually impaired people and we were able to try it for a week. This was the first week that Dean was able to see 20/20 vision! The devise has a camera that projects everything he is looking at onto 2 organic LCD screens right in front of him! He can take a picture, zoom in, analyze, and actually see beyond his normal 4 inch radius!!!! The downside to the eSight 4 device is that it costs almost $7,000. We are asking for help to cover this device and change Dean's life. I have attached photos of Dean in the device and a link describing his disorder. We would love to order them as soon as possible so that Dean excels with remote learning! If you would like to donate in other ways that would be welcome and greatly appreciated!
