Help Skip Kick Cancer. It Takes An Island (or Ten)

My neighbor and all around great guy, Skip Traskos was healthy one day, and sent directly to a cancer treatment hospital, Baptist Health in Kendall, FL the next. That was two months ago. Life can be cruel that way, and is for far too many.

Skip, a true Piner, (BPK) is a friend of many. He is also possibly the most optimistic person I have ever met, and generous. And, as kind as they come.

But, he and his wife are also working class people, she the head of housekeeping at a small Lower Keys resort, and he, a former construction worker 5 days a week, and on his own doing side work on weekends. They each work 6 and 7 days per week since I have known them these past 15 years.

They own a home and have a mortgage that requires monthly payments. Several friends of Skip have been on the receiving end of help, and even money loans. But, now Skip and his wife Barbara need our help.

Imagine, after of being diagnosed with Covid like symptoms, you go to your doctor only to find out that you have leukemia? And, that you must be whisked away immediately to the hospital to begin treatment, lose your job, live far enough away from home that visits are occasional at best. All the while, bills are stacking up to the point where you might lose your home. Such is the case.

So, I am starting this GFM page with a personal donation of $100. The goal is $50k. The hospital and medication bills, as you can imagine, far exceed that. But, it’s something. And, they need our help. Skip and Barb have lived in the Keys for 25 years. They are great people. Thank you for contributing whatever you can.
