Friends & Family,

As many of you know, our family has had the incredible privilege of hosting Edin, a freshman at Calvin University, who came to the U.S. from La Union, Honduras this past August. It has been a joy to have him in our home and we’ve been able to witness firsthand his remarkable dedication, enthusiasm, and growth. Edin is thriving academically, participating in intramural volleyball, and has even been selected to represent Calvin as part of the Model UN Team. We are incredibly proud of him and all that he’s already accomplished in such a short time.

While Edin has been a delight to host, we believe he would truly benefit from a more traditional college experience by living on campus in the dorms. We’ve seen how much he enjoys interacting with his peers and engaging in campus life and have recognized that his living situation with us is not allowing him to maximize his potential. Edin has worked tirelessly to secure scholarships that cover most of his tuition, however, as part of his VISA requirements, he needed a host family to live with and sponsor all food and transportation costs. Our family has gladly provided this since he moved in with us and are committed to continuing to host him in in our home until August 2025.

As we look toward the future, Jon and I and are reaching out to friends and family to see if we can help Edin raise $10,000 to cover room and board expenses for the 2025-2026 academic term. Edin's plan is to then serve as a Resident Assistant (RA) for his Junior and Senior years at Calvin.

Edin has big dreams for his future. He is studying international relations with the goal of entering nonprofit work focused on combating human trafficking, and his passion for languages is evident. In addition to mastering English and Spanish, he is working toward learning an additional two more languages. Jon and I believe that supporting him in his educational and personal growth is a worthy investment, and we are committed to helping him achieve his goals.

Thank you for considering! We are grateful to be able to do life with others and that we can, together as his American village, help this young man succeed!

Love,
Jon & Brenna Reimink
